The Guide to Volunteering Your Time

Posted in Activists

The sense of brotherhood that volunteers experience can unite their community, and of course it will help those incapable of supporting themselves. Organizing this can be quite difficult in its own right, and arranging what you want to do can easily eat up free time better used to actually work. Obviously, when you volunteer as part of a team effort with friends or co-workers, it will be far more fun. Companies like Adaptive Marketing LLC, a firm from Connecticut that developed shopping programs like Your Savings Club (MVQ*CLUBSAVE), are forming the organizing points enabling their employees to find the time to pitch in. Fortunately, company-supported charitable contribution has developed beyond blood drives and once-a-year charitable giving. The staff members of Adaptive Marketing are frequently given the chance to participate in community initiatives with greater and lesser time investments. For these events, the times, locations and dates of the events were posted, ensuring that staff members knew what to expect, and how much of their time it would actually take. Giving volunteers their say in what programs are available is essential. Businesses involved in this like Adaptive Marketing, (as you’d expect from the company behind Your Savings Club (MVQ*CLUBSAVE)) present their staffers with a diverse list of events. Previous projects have ranged between areas as diverse as help and support for children and young adults, green projects, and events cultivating the area’s artistic projects. This gives Adaptive Marketing volunteers opportunities to explore useful avenues in volunteer work and have fun getting involved.

Commonly a company supported volunteer initiative - fundraising with a homeless shelter or assisting at a local school - is either for a one-off event or on a regular schedule in pursuit of a bigger goal. Employees may well say they have no time to give, though it would be surprising if they seriously can’t find enough resources to help at an event lasting only a single day.

It has always been a fairly common practice for businesses to help to support the community in which they’re based. Community goodwill is generated by the actions of Adaptive Marketing’s staff over the course of company-sponsored projects like those touched on in this article. Volunteering to help others leaves you feeling better about yourself - which is just the sort of feeling to motivate employees in both their regular work and their volunteer activities. By now, we think, the rewards of a company sponsored volunteer drive for everyone involved are should have become quite clear.

Potential Side Effects of Yasmin on Healthy Women

Contraceptive pill has been in existence for a long time, and there are tens of millions of consumers in the U.S. alone. For the most part, contraceptive pills are a good and true way for adult females to forbid unwanted impregnation. Yasmin is one birth control pill that stands out as quite different from the others, and was vast trendy because of its strength in alleviating PMDD. Yasmin is the birth control pill that is touted as being efficient in not only precluding impregnation but also in the treatment of PMDD and acne. All was going well until the users of this medication observed that there were some rather crucial Yaz side effects.

Some young ladies have suffered Yasmin side effects. Yasmin side effects stretch from seizures, organ failure, and the ultimate side effect, death. For those that have been effected from taking Yasmin oral contraceptive or know someone who has, you may be suitable to damages for pain and suffering. Due to incorrect claims and not disclosing the full potential risks, the producers of Yaz led many of young ladies to believe Yasmin contraceptive pill were the idyllic answer for their contraceptive method only to be subjugated to side effects that could possibly have killed them.

The problem with the Yasmin side effects is that numerous young women did not know that the potential side effects were so serious before taking the contraceptive pill. These side effects, severe or moderate, could happen to anyone. With so many other types of oral contraceptives on the market, women would have at least had a choice to use something different if they saw what possibilities that were ahead with the use of Yaz. Since the introduction of Yaz as an oral contraceptive, numerous women all over the world have been taking it and experiencing serious or life-threatening medical troubles.

Help for those Suffering from Birth Control Pills Side Effects

Yaz is a popular oral contraceptive pill that is taken by millions of women around the world every year. As of late, Yasmin has been associated with certain serious Yaz side effects and possibly life-threatening injuries. Women taking Yasmin, or its generic form Ocella, have reportedly suffered gallbladder disease, blood clots, among other serious health problems. And adding to the already mounting scrutiny, the Food & Drug Administration has sanctioned the makers of Yaz and Yasmin for misleading television ads that did not properly making known to consumers and misinterpreted the conditions the pills were meant to treat.

There are already multiple lawsuits filed in various counties across the United States against the contraceptive producer. This number is expected to reach 1,000. Any of those effected by Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella can submit a case evaluation at thelegaladvocate.com to have a lawyer review their information in order to be provided with answers and hopefully representation.

Any women that have been wounded as a result of taking Yaz, Yasmin or Ocella may be eligible to an award. Many lawyers and legal advocate agencies such as thelegaladvocate.com now offer assistance to anyone experiencing side effects and health issues as a direct result of using Yaz contraception. Now that more women across the country are coming forward and filing lawsuits, the legal system is moving closer to offering justice for those who were misled by the birth control manufacturers and possibly their doctors.

Naveen Jain: Stepping up to the Plate

Posted in Activists

The philanthropic activities that Naveen Jain has taken up while heading Intelius are too numerous to even count individually.

In 2008, despite the economic crunch that has affected every business in various industries, Intelius and its co-founder still managed to consistently raise funds for the charities they supported. The charismatic Naveen Jain believes that because the country is facing a huge crisis and many Americans are in need, his company finds even more reasons to keep reaching out to the community. He further adds that his inspiration for his philanthropic missions are the tireless nonprofit groups that he works with. For this reason, he has made it his mission to instill in the company’s employees the importance of philanthropy even in times of economic difficulties.

In March of 2009, Naveen Jain, together with his wife Anu, were named Honorary Chairs at the annual “Step Up To The Plate Benefit Luncheon” by the Overlake Service League of Bellevue, Washington. The OSL is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families within the Bellevue School District area. Intelius has been one of its major sponsors and they recognized this by conducting a banquet in honor of the company and its co-founder.

“Intelius and the Jains have taken a real leadership role in our community,” remarks Trish Carpenter, Director of Fundraising & Development for Overlake Service League. Carpenter continues by reiterating that the example set by Intelius and the Jains is something that other companies should follow. She also believes that OSL and Intelius are the ideal partners for community building.

Naveen Jain continuously steps up to donate and lend a helping hand to those who are in need. This hard working CEO is a living testament to the true essence of giving back even in times of difficulties.

Shooting Around Corners with New Concept

Posted in Activists

Currently the United States has weapons, which can shoot around corners, but they are not as accurate as we wish them to be. Often an insurgent will sit a top a building with a superior vantage point and a good location. He will then pick off our guys as they attempt to move and advance forward. Once this is learned a gun, which shoots around corners can be used to try to get the sniper or group of insurgents around the corner. Currently or soldiers have small cameras which display what is around the corner on the barrel of the gun which is bent to shoot around the corner, which displays in the night vision goggle system or head display on the helmet.

There are a couple of problematic issues with this shooting around corners weaponry. One is the recoil, which moves the weapon away from the wall and thus makes it hard to pick off your target first time, meaning you have now made yourself the enemies target as well. I propose suction devices to be used to place the gun against the wall and use the wall as a point for pivoting the weapon for aiming. I propose the same type of suction type grips used in the hardware business for vice clamps on workbenches. Here is one such device, but realize there are so many to choose from in the J.C. Whitney Catalog that we can pick one most similar to our needs and modify it slightly.

http://www.machinemart.co.uk/product.asp?p=040310003&r=2133&g=116

There could also be a double lever, which uses suction for the other side of the wall without sticking your arm or other body part around the corner to secure it. The lever would automatically attach as you secured the suction devices on your side of the wall.

Next I propose we use no-recoil The AA-12 and AA-12 CQB type system or little recoil weapon where the bullets are fed around the corner into the chamber and then use this scenario:

http://www.military.com/soldiertech/0,14632,Soldiertech_AA12,,00.html

With a rapid-fire system of many bullets at a time or a combination of this system and the designs used for the larger shelled “metal storm” weaponry. Additionally we need to look at a centrifuge scenario weapon, which can be used to shoot around corners in rapid fire like a machine gun. The wheel spins and lets loose of the bullets as it spins and wheel slightly sticks out around the corner. The suction clamps would in this case have and “L” bracket on the end to insure that it rests in place so the bullets clear the wall. The eye or vision camera would sit on top of the wheels center with an extension arm and site, as the information is sent to the helmet vision system for day or night warfare.

We must be able to shoot around corners and kill the murderous insurgent radical international terrorists without losing our own soldiers. Besides such devices make sense for the “War on Drugs” and gang warfare as well. Think on this.

Oprah’s Big Give Program

Oprah Winfrey, one of America’s most celebrated media personalities, is also a philanthropist. In the late 2006, Oprah and the management of ABC revealed plans of a new reality show called The Oprah Winfrey’s The Big Give. In the show, 10 individuals are given resources and large sums of money that will be used to find the “the most powerful, sensational, emotional and dramatic ways to give to others.” These 10 people will travel across the United States and help people in their own creative way. Their deeds will be judged and the one who scores lowest according to the panel’s criteria, will be sent home. At the end of the season, the winner will receive $1 million — $500,000 for him/herself and $500,000 to be given away, and will be named the America’s Greatest Unknown Philanthropist. The first episode of Oprah Winfrey’s The Big Give was aired on March 2, 2008 and ranked #4 in television ratings, with over 15 million viewers. During the following episodes, ratings plummeted consistently. The final episode, aired on April 20, 2008, saw Stephen Paletta as the winner and was viewed by 10 million people across the United States.Despite the positive impact the show has given to philanthropy, ABC did not renew the series for a second season.

9/11: Where is Osama bin Laden?

Posted in Activists

I was minding my own business grilling some Omaha Steak® hamburgers on my George Foreman Grill® when my nosey neighbor, Fred, came through the back yard gate. He could be visiting his kids in Los Cruces and he would still smell my hamburgers and come charging back to Idaho.

Fred always asks inane questions when he is waiting on a burger. I have to answer the darn things.

Question: When was 9/11?

Answer: It was in 2001.

Q. That long? How long have we known who was responsible for the attacks?

A. Since 2001.

Q. And, who was responsible?

A. Osama bin Laden.

A. What did we do to catch Osama bin Laden and his gang?

A. Did I mention a gang? We attacked Afghanistan and Iraq.

Q. Were we greeted as heroes and liberators?

A. Hardly! Who ever suggested that?

A. Dick Cheney, the duck, pheasant, quail, and attorney hunter! And what countries did the bad guys come from?

A. Saudi Arabia and their neighbors.

Q. Did attacking Afghanistan and Iraq do the trick?

A. No. Afghanistan significantly increased its opium production but poor Iraq has been in deadly confusion. Now there seems to be an insurgency in Afghanistan again. Americans die all the time.

Q. So what is plan B?

A. The world’s land area is about 16 times that of the United States. With over six billion people you would think we could find one guy simply by offering a reward. The Department of State is offering a 25 million dollar reward.

I’ve told everybody on the Internet (well at least those who read my junk) that Osama bin Laden is drinking lemonade in Mecca. Why don’t we just go in there and get him? Then the State Department can give me my 25 million dollars.

Q. So there is no Plan B?

A. No! I guess not. After Plan A failed everybody in Washington just gave up. But I still say, go to Mecca!

Q. Is it really that simple, Taylor Jones the hack writer?

A. Maybe not, Fred. But we sure as heck have covered Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Q. It seems that attacking countries instead of hiring a good detective agency has not solved the problem.

A. No worry! Osama bin Laden was born in 1957. Adding 70 years-he is in pretty good health from all that hiking-he will die around 2027. That is only 21 years away. No time at all!

Q. Wasn’t Osama bin Laden an ally during Afghanistan’s war against the USSR?

A. Sure! The CIA loved the guy.

Q. Why shouldn’t I think that the CIA is giving him cover?

A. Because that wouldn’t be nice.

Q. How do I not know that Osama bin Laden didn’t go to Sweden and have a sex-change operation?

A. You don’t? Did you see her?

Q. How do I not know that Osama bin Laden was seen in Beverly Hills outside the office of a prominent plastic surgeon?

A. You are getting hotter by the minute. All the Mecca girls love his curly hair.

Q. Aren’t those burgers about done?

A. Grab a plate, Fred!

The Michael Savage Phenomenon

Posted in Activists

Michael Savage breaks all the rules, is abrasive, oftentimes offensive; some people get upset at the very mention of his name. Yet he is heard by millions of listeners religiously, politically incorrect though he may be.

Michael Savage informs, entertains, takes no prisoners, yells, gets irate, and speaks with complete candor and passion. You may not like Michael Savage; you may get angry at some of the things he has said and done, but you cannot argue with his success.

Why has Michael Savage succeeded beyond the wildest expectations of anyone? Why does his following continue to grow? He’s the man everyone is listening to, but few will admit to listening to. What is it about Michael Savage that has created this baffling phenomenon and why is his show worth listening to?

First: Michael Savage is bold and believes in what he is saying. He is willing to say the things that others cannot. He’s not an entertainer; he’s not putting on a show; he doesn’t care if you agree with him or not; and he’s not bound by society’s rules of what is and is not polite to mention. The rest of us are indeed bound by these rules in our everyday actions; we must make sure we do not offend or tell other people what we really think. We listen to Michael Savage and marvel at his jaw-dropping statements and his utter brazenness as he says and continues to say things that guarantee that he will not find a place as a CNN anchor any time soon.

Second: Michael Savage is human. He is imperfect. He has made mistakes. But he does care about our country and about people. He also tells us about his family (and his pet dog), including a brother who was mentally challenged.

Third: Michael Savage is intelligent. Read articles about Michael and you will find out that he has been down many roads in life, has spent years in the academic world. Listen to Michael and you will find a wealth of information and a remarkable ability to hold forth on virtually any topic.

Fourth: Surprise - Michael Savage can be very funny, though it’s not a side he shows the world every day. Faithful listeners, however, are rewarded with the occasional comment that can have you on the floor laughing, or a dead-on imitation when Michael breaks out of his New York accent to take on another perfectly, with cutting humor (notably, the preacher).

A message to Michael Savage Bashers: Listen to Michael Savage with an open mind, instead of just adding him to your knee-jerk hate-list right above Rush Limbaugh (another person from whom you can greatly benefit by listening to with an open mind!). You might just learn something.
