Standing out at a Job Faire can make a difference in your search. Job Faires are starting to pick up, and Dice is running some nice ones, called Targeted Job Fairs. At a Silicon Valley Job Fair in January, 10 companies as showing up, and Dice has 82 job fairs scheduled for 2010 across the US.
How do you stand out at a Career Fair? The contention can be noteworthy, but you can help yourself stick out from the crowd with early preparation. At AA-Careers, we have a straight-forward 6-step process to prepare. Plan to go? Here’s how to prepare:
First, research the companies that are going and pick your objectives. Use the internet to check out the companies that are there before you even decide to go. Go to their sites and see if they have their jobs listed. Pick a tenable number to target, and get ready to spend up to an hour researching each one. It’s hard to do more than eight in a day, and four or five is a much more reasonable target. For each hiring company, you want to know: executive names, recent news, and key product lines. Try to see if you know anyone at the target companies. You will end up with with a page or two of research for each company/job.
Second, if there are job openings on the web, read them to see what the hiring manager is looking for. Create a mapping of your achievements and skills to the demands of the job. Make the language match. If the hiring organization calls customers "clients", your resume should do the same thing. The accomplishments should be written in the style of the hiring company.
Third, create a ‘mini sales pitch’ for each likely company/job combination. Write down a 90 second ‘thumbnail’ that you can repeat verbally showing why you are a great prospect for that job. You’ll use this in your resume and when you meet people at the job stall.
Fourth, modify your resume for each job type. The objective on your resume should exactly match the job you’re want. The executive summary should be a written form of your “mini sales pitch” for the job. Then choose the accomplishments and skills that most clearly match the job prerequisites. Especially at a Job Faire, the purpose of your resume is a sales tool for you – to get you on-site job interviews. It should be very easy to see that you’re a fit based on your resume.
Fifth, practice your ‘mini-sales-pitch’. Collect your research and the resume for each opportunity - bring a couple of copies for each – and put each in a understandably marked folder. Keep them in a light briefcase or folio.
Finally, dress and prepare as if you’re doing on-site interviews. Dress well and be well groomed. Avoid strong cologne or perfume…use any cologne or fragrance meagerly, if at all.

This clearly states the current state of the commercial Internet , which is full of competition. So how do you survive in this tough competition ? There is a common saying that in nature “survival of the fittest” works as a rule.
Now it is time to reconsider this definition of being “fit”. Let’s look at it this way. Internet is a place where people have started looking for “solutions” rather than mere information. All sorts of products in the form of eBooks, CD’s , white papers, journals are available as “instant downloads” in a few minutes.
The product categories range from solving personal problems such as relationships, dating, health issues etc, Business solutions, hobbies, travel.
But real problem is how YOU can tap into this huge market and become financially secure ?
The answer is creativity. Creativity is what makes things easy. But unfortunately many people think that creative thinking is as hard as climbing “Mount Everest”.
But here is a good news. recent study in psychology shows that creativity is a habit just like all other habits. Just look at yourself how easily you can walk, talk, laugh, run, cry, hold thing with your hands, write, read…How? because these have become a habit by now.

Here you will see that I have expanded the word “photography” in the form of “keywords” which any search engine will recognize. So finding information on these topics for research becomes much easier now and saves time. Each of the particular keyword above can be again expanded to form an entire ebook or info-product.
On top of this, keyword research tools on the Internet can be used very effectively. Some of these tools are available at Overture.com, wordtracker.info, altavista.com(prisma)
Next you can compare the list you have generated with the list which these online tools generate. Minor editing will give you a final list of topics to be converted into an info-product.
Once you get this habit of fractionating any given topic into “keywords” many new streams of ideas emerge , which can be used as raw material for further study. Analyzing any theme in this way will definitely give rise to alternative ways of presenting the same information in various forms.
What does this mean ?
When you are ready with the final bunch of chapters, you can convert that in an eBook, CD, an entire website, a f.r.ee eCourse sent via autoresponder, each chapter can be individually treated as an article etc. Just fine tune your lessons for your own product or someone else’s product if you are an affiliate and you can earn mo.ne’y with this.

Think like a businessperson, not an author.
Once the final draft is written, you’re no longer an author. You’re an entrepreneur with a product to sell, and it’s critical that you start thinking that way. Instead of spending your time on editing and proofreading, you’ve got to invest your time in marketing activities. That means finding the answers to three critical questions:
a. Who is your audience? b. What will compel them to buy your book? c. What methods should you use to reach them?
At this stage, you need to think about capturing leads, producing sales material, getting testimonials and positive reviews, and arranging publicity events. Your focus should be on all the ways you can create awareness of your book.
The best way to get started in thinking like a businessperson is after your final draft is done but before you go to print, sit down and write out the answers to these questions:
• What is my marketing budget? • What resources do I have in place already? • What people do I know who can help me? • What are my sales goals for the year?
Keep your expectations realistic.
The average self-published book sells only about 3,000 copies, and the average book issued by a publisher sells only a few thousand more. For every bestseller, there are hundreds of books that sell moderately and disappear. So you’ve got to keep your expectations realistic, or you’ll set yourself up to get discouraged and quit trying to market your book.
Rather than worry about the overall number of copies sold, I recommend to people that they set their goals, especially for a first book, like this:
a. Monetary goals. For most authors, selling enough copies to break even is a very worthwhile goal. If you can do that, you’ve done great! b. Career goals. Your book might give a big boost to your speaking career, medical practice or other endeavor. c. Publicity goals. Your book could position you as an expert in your field, so that you get invited on radio programs, TV, speaking engagements, etc. d. Publishing goals. Maybe your book is noticed by a publisher who wants to re-release it, or you are offered a chance to write future books. e. Networking goals. You meet agents, designers, journalists and others who could be wonderful contacts for the future.
Your expectations for your book should not be centered on copies sold. Instead, focus on developing and executing a brilliant marketing and PR plan, making key contacts, and finding ways to create value for readers, for the media and for organizations who might make big bulk purchases. If you focus on those things, sales will take care of themselves.
Concentrate on meeting all 5 types of goals. That way, even if your sales are only moderate, but you do brilliantly in getting publicity and making contacts, you can consider your book a success.
Have a solid, long-term marketing plan.
Before you ever get close to even finishing your first draft, sit down and map out the basics of your marketing and promotional plan. The key questions you’ll need to answer:
• What is my marketing budget? • When should my book be ready? • Who is my audience and what need does this book meet? • What will my price point be? • How many copies do I need to sell to break even? • How many copies do I want to sell? • What marketing channels will I use to reach my readers? • What relationships can I leverage to make bulk sales? • What relationships can I leverage to get press coverage? • Who will design my Website? • Do I need a marketing staff? • Will I do an e-newsletter? • Will I hire a distributor or ship the books myself? • Do I want to be in the bookstores? • Will I do “guerilla” marketing? • What ancillary products can I produce (tapes, CDs, etc.) • How can my seminars/consulting/current business support this book?
That’s a lot of material, but it’s all important. Take a couple of months and figure it out. You can also cut some time off your learning curve by learning from others who have done it already.

How To Bring In Your First $100,000 With Infoproducts

The trick to building on your momentum is to leverage the success of your first infoproduct by conducting a series of teleseminars, webinars or interviews.
You want to produce at least 1 new audio/video product per month.
There are many teleseminar or webinar services out there that allow you to control the entire session, and will ship you the audio file with transcripts following the session.
You now have some additional income from the teleseminars and from the resulting products —
12 Teleseminars X $555 (15 ppl X $37) = $6,660
80 Product Sales/month (4 New Products X 20 sales/month) X $67 = $5360/month or $32,160/year (only calculating 6-months of sales as it will take some time to build these products)
Step 3. Related Affiliate Products
While infopreneurs are product developers and marketers of their own products first, it certainly doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t build a list of subscribers and market affiliate products to your list.
Based on personal experience, it is certainly possible, and quite easy to pull in an extra $500-$1,000/month with well positioned affiliate product promotions - even with a list as small as a couple thousand subscribers.
Let’s be conservative and assume you run two affiliate promotions per month each bringing in $400 —
24 Affiliate Promotions X $400 = $9,600/year
Step 4. Show People The Solution - Videos
Technology has advanced to the point where you can easily produce very high quality videos from your own home office.
These videos can be tutorials showing screen shots, interviews with experts or a combination of camcorder shots with screen shots.
Now, there is tremendous money to be made in developing multimedia based products - however we will be very conservative with our estimates here, we’ll assume you develop this product 6-months into your business and that it will be a $47 DVD (in reality they can often be priced much higher - depending on the topic and uniqueness of content) —
25 sales X $47 = $1175/month or $7050/6months
Step 5. Offer Services
If you have selected your market carefully, tapped into a wave of demand and offered a unique solution or system to solve a particular problem - then people will come to you looking for help beyond your product.
Offering consulting, coaching, mentoring, implementation or other services may not be your first goal, but the requests will come and you may as well prepare by pricing and marketing your services in advance.
To this day, I still fight most consulting engagements - I simply love creating products too much. But offering consulting or other services does bump up your monthly income and is a great way to stay in touch with your market - first hand.
Typical consulting rates range from $150-$300/hour. For this example, I’ll assume minimal consulting at just 10-hours per month and assume your first consulting income will not be generated for the first 6-months as you build your customers and reputation.
10hours/month X $150/hour = $1,500/month or $9,000/6months
THE GRAND TOTAL
So far we have the following:
$40,200 from main product $6,660 paid teleseminars $32,160 additional products from recording teleseminars $9,600 from related affiliate products $7,050 from video/multimedia products $9,000 from consulting and services
TOTAL $104,670
What I have outlined here is a completely reasonable, and in many cases, very conservative estimate of what you can do in your first year of becoming an infopreneur.
It’s the model I followed, as have most other online marketing success stories. While the split of numbers may look different, the categories are pretty consistent.
Most important is that you select a target market and niche demand that is red-hot, in-demand and that people have proven the propensity to spend.
From there, you will find that blowing the estimates used above out of the water is a very realistic possibility.
