Protecting Young Drivers: Good Tips for Parents

Most young people daydream about the day they will get their drivers license; nonetheless, many parents dread this same time. Almost everyone knows a teenager who has been involved in a bad motorcar accident. What can a parent do to protect his or her child?. Begin by talking with them about automobile safety. In addition, parents can enroll their potential teenage driver in a drivers instruction class. The upshot of this is lower automobile premiums and a better prepared driver.

Why should you take driver education classes?

Growing up is a natural part of life and getting a drivers license is another step in the process. Unfortunately, approximately 300 young drivers and their passengers are killed each year in the UK and many more are seriously injured. On the other hand, young drivers who took additional drivers education courses reduced their risk for a serious automobile accident. Also, these courses not only save lives, but money through reduced insurance premiums. You may not be able stop your baby birds from growing up and leaving the nest; however you can let them go safer and cheaper by enrolling them in a drivers education course.

Which conditions are most likely to cause to accidents?

Many teenagers drive older pre-owned vehicles; unfortunately, these cars are not always equipped with the latest safety equipment. Data shows that teenagers with numerous passengers and traveling on Friday or Saturday night will increase the likelihood of an accident. Lastly, weather conditions which result in wet weather can be difficult for an inexperienced driver to maneuver.

There is in fact a form of car insurance for young drivers that discourages drivers from driving at more dangerous times of the day. Known as pay per drive insurance the driver charged for the miles they drive. For example the highest mileage rates will be charged for the most dangerous times such as the middle of the nght.

Who is the most liable to crash?

Young drivers, particularly those under 25, are at most risk of an motorcar accident according to the accident data. Also, researchers report the risk crests right after a driver receives his or her first license. Keep in mind; studies indicate that male drivers are twice as likely as female drivers to be involved in an automobile collision.

Where can you be taught accident avoidance techniques?

Although nothing can take the place of experience, many teenagers benefit from taking additional driving lessons. Pass Plus is a new driver education course offered by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA). The Driving Academy at Mercedes-Benz World offers a driving experience class for soon-to-be new drivers. Safety driven driver training courses are available from the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).

New Ways to save Energy and Money!

Posted in Briefings

Being energy efficient and saving money isn’t all about recycling and visiting bottle banks. Though this does help the environment, there are many other ways you can help too!

Why not start at home? Air testing, solar panels, double glazing and water saving features such as using rainwater to water the plants in the garden can all make a difference. Air testing for example, tests your home for where air is escaping, by filling these holes and cavities your house will be warmer as less warm air will be able to escape and require less energy to heat up and stay warm.

Outside the home there are simple changes that people can make too. Cycling instead of driving, or if you have to drive why not car share with friends or colleagues.

The beauty of saving energy is that it invariably leads to saving money too! It can be saving on your heating bills, water bills or petrol, over the period of a few months or years it can all add up to quite a considerable amount of money.

So even if you are not that interested in the environment but don’t mind chipping in, the incentive of potential monetary savings should be enough for anyone? The real bonus is that anyone can make these changes and they won’t impact too highly on their day to day life. Try it and see if you can do something to save the environment and put some spare cash in your wallet.

What Is a Will?

Don t leave your wife and kids with additional costs and hassle.
People who die without a valid will, or intestate, result in complications and costs to their beneficiaries and often gift thousands of £’s to the Country in what may be avoidable Inheritance Tax (IHT).

The Law Society says that anyone with possessions and family or friends should make a will, disregarding of their age. It is particularly important if you are not married to your partner, because the law does not accord partners the same rights automatically of inheritance as spouses.
Assets which are jointly owned by unmarried partners on a joint tenancy basis would still go to automatically to the existing spouse under the rules of survivorship. Under the current intestacy rules, an unmarried partner has no rights to assets and property that were not jointly owned (although the Law Commission has recently suggested to change this).

Making a will is also essential if you have children, as you can propose guardians to look after them.

It is essential to produce a list of assets and liabilities and their approximate worth. Include your properties, investment, savings, insurance policies and pension.
In addition, think about individual legacies. Simply telling a beneficiary that an item will be his or hers one day could cause problems later.

You should take professional advice on IHT planning as part of writing your will. Easy steps could save the beneficiaries of more prosperous homeowners thousands of £’s in tax.

A key element of preparing a will is the naming of executors to ensure that your will instructions are carried out correctly.

You should also update your will every few years or so and whenever your circumstances are altered by a substantial life event, such as wedding, split up or a birth or death in the immediate family. Another instance would be after a house buy or move.

Whoever makes up your will, make sure at least 1 copy is kept secure or deposit 1 with a probate registry.

Getting Noticed at a Career Faire

Standing out at a Job Faire can make a difference in your search. Job Faires are starting to pick up, and Dice is running some nice ones, called Targeted Job Fairs. At a Silicon Valley Job Fair in January, 10 companies as showing up, and Dice has 82 job fairs scheduled for 2010 across the US.

How do you stand out at a Career Fair? The contention can be noteworthy, but you can help yourself stick out from the crowd with early preparation. At AA-Careers, we have a straight-forward 6-step process to prepare. Plan to go? Here’s how to prepare:

First, research the companies that are going and pick your objectives. Use the internet to check out the companies that are there before you even decide to go. Go to their sites and see if they have their jobs listed. Pick a tenable number to target, and get ready to spend up to an hour researching each one. It’s hard to do more than eight in a day, and four or five is a much more reasonable target. For each hiring company, you want to know: executive names, recent news, and key product lines. Try to see if you know anyone at the target companies. You will end up with with a page or two of research for each company/job.

Second, if there are job openings on the web, read them to see what the hiring manager is looking for. Create a mapping of your achievements and skills to the demands of the job. Make the language match. If the hiring organization calls customers "clients", your resume should do the same thing. The accomplishments should be written in the style of the hiring company.

Third, create a ‘mini sales pitch’ for each likely company/job combination. Write down a 90 second ‘thumbnail’ that you can repeat verbally showing why you are a great prospect for that job. You’ll use this in your resume and when you meet people at the job stall.

Fourth, modify your resume for each job type. The objective on your resume should exactly match the job you’re want. The executive summary should be a written form of your “mini sales pitch” for the job. Then choose the accomplishments and skills that most clearly match the job prerequisites. Especially at a Job Faire, the purpose of your resume is a sales tool for you – to get you on-site job interviews. It should be very easy to see that you’re a fit based on your resume.

Fifth, practice your ‘mini-sales-pitch’. Collect your research and the resume for each opportunity - bring a couple of copies for each – and put each in a understandably marked folder. Keep them in a light briefcase or folio.

Finally, dress and prepare as if you’re doing on-site interviews. Dress well and be well groomed. Avoid strong cologne or perfume…use any cologne or fragrance meagerly, if at all.

Remember to smile, and good hunting!

Register for Baby Gifts

Posted in Briefings

If you don’t register for baby stuff you will, I repeat, will end up with a bunch of things that you don’t want or need. If you care about what kind of stuff your baby will be playing with or wearing, then I suggest going with your wife to register. But on the other hand, just let wife know what kind of stuff that you don’t want, and send them out with their girlfriends, They will be more than happy to go. Women just love to shop together. All the other stuff, you really don’t have a say in, and even if you do, there is so much that it will make your head spin around in circles, and eventually fall off. I don’t know about you, but I really don’t like how all the baby stuff is so babyish. I would keep all the stuff that is not clothing, neutral or unisex because it will work later when you have more kids. Pick things that you can use for more than one baby, unless you are only going to have one. If you have some friends that have little kids, ask them if they have any baby stuff that they want to get rid of, or let you borrow. You will save tons of money if you do this, as the toys, gear, clothes, and other stuff only last a short time. But you should check the recalls on all used stuff.
