The Best Neighbors We Could Be

Posted in Content Writing

Naveen Jain has always shown concern towards people at a young age. Growing up in India, the poverty he witnessed around him made him vow to work hard to help his countrymen. Becoming one of America’s wealthiest men, Naveen Jain engaged himself in philanthropic activities by giving financial aid to people and organizations involved in the upliftment of education, poverty reduction, healthcare, children’s welfare, and family services. He also contributed to the University of Washington’s scholarship fund for Business, Engineering, and Computer Science students.

Founding Intelius, a successful online information service provider which presently caters to ten million clients, Naveen Jain has successfully instilled his philanthropic spirit in his workforce. The company started the Employee Giving Program, which encourages employees to donate to their favorite charities, and the Employee Volunteer Program, which encourages employees to become actively involved in charitable organizations in their local communities. In return, Intelius gives 12 hours of paid time off yearly to participating employees.

According to Naveen Jain, “We are so fortunate to have so many employees who are passionate not only about the company, but about taking an active role in improving the community and world around them. It’s inspiring and contagious and in turn the company strives to make every effort to support and fuel this enthusiasm.”

These programs and the company’s constant charitable donations have made Intelius a listee in the Puget Sound Business Journal’s top 15 Corporate Philanthropists.

“Like any company we want to be financially successful, but more important than that–we never want to lose sight of our core values and the understanding that we are only as good and productive as the communities we do business in,” said Jain. “It is with this knowledge that we work every day to be the best neighbors we can be.”

D’Amato’s Senatorial Career

Ex-senator Alphonse D’Amato represented the state of New York for over 18 years and has long served citizens in fund raising matters during his time in office. He has preserved his connection with Long Island and this action has earned him the recognition as a person who helps financially-challenged individuals at a personal level.

As a former congressional commissioner to New York and as a supporter of various committees while in Congress, Alphonse D’Amato provided service to a multitude of constituents. It also helped that he was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.

D’Amato’s governmental participation keeps him enthusiastic in the world of politics by showing his capability in raising funds. His height in success reflects greatly on his determination in money making. One such case was when he functioned as the National Republic Senatorial Committee’s chairman. His finance earnings grossed to about 54 million dollars.

Alphonse D’Amato was born in Brooklyn. He spent his early years in Long Island. The ex-Senator graduated from Chaminade High School, Syracuse University, and Syracuse University College of Law. He joined up with the Nassau County Republican Party. This was his first foray into politics. This proved to be successful as he eventually earned the position of Public Administrator of Nassau County, where he was tasked with managing the assets of county dwellers who expired without leaving wills.

Gates the Philanthropist

So what is the third richest man in the world doing with all his money now that he has quit his job? Most people, if they ever live to be one of the wealthiest persons on the planet, would definitely get the luxuries ordinary commoners will never have in a million lifetimes. However, Bill Gates maintains, through his actions, that being rich gives one a heightened sense of social responsibility to the rest of humanity.

Gates announced that his time will now be anchored on the philanthropic ventures of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the charitable organization he and his wife founded. Long before he retired though, Gates was already fulfilling his moral obligations to society, giving it substantially more than just simple forms of aid. Gates have given people hope that life can still be better, despite their lots in life.

He may be remembered as one of the richest men who have ever lived or the monopolistic businessman with precise shrewdness, but to the millions of lives he has touched through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, he will be remembered as a man who opened doors of opportunities for a better life.
